100 Free Things To Do With Kids Near Me This Summer - MusefulMom.com

Are you looking for things to do with kids near me this summer? I know I am and cost is always a factor. That is until I discovered Free Fun Fridays in Massachusetts.

Free Fun Fridays is a program that offers people free admission to museums, zoos, and other attractions in Massachusetts every Friday. In 2019, Free Fun Fridays will run from June 28 to August 30. And the theme for this year is “Your ticket to summer fun.” How awesome is that?

Every Friday, there are 10 options to choose from. Each week the attractions offered seem to be nicely spread out across the state. As a result, this makes it easier for people all over the state to take advantage of this program. Furthermore, you don’t have to be a Massachusetts resident. This is open to everyone, everywhere. Sweet! Right?

Now I know how difficult it is to find things to do with kids near me. So that is why I am excited about the Free Fun Fridays program. So many wonderful places to see and it’s all for free! What’s great is that the free admission is for everyone, not just kids. And that’s another reason why this program is so great.

Also, for most attractions and venues, you do not need to pre-register or purchase tickets in advance. Venues and attractions offering plays or live
performances may need advance notice with a few exceptions. So make sure to check out the website for the 2019 Free Fun Fridays Schedule.

The Highland Street Foundation created Free Fun Fridays back in 2009. It has helped children and families throughout Massachusetts get access to things to do during the summer months. For 11 years, the program has offered enrichment, entertainment and education in all parts of the state.

Because of a program like this, you are more likely go see some attractions that you probably wouldn’t have seen before. And they have a large selection of attractions to choose from. Seems like you should have no problem finding something for everyone to enjoy. I know I don’t.

So if you are looking for things to do with kids this summer, Free Fun Fridays is for you. Below is the list of dates and venues available. You can also download and print a pdf version of the Free Fun Fridays PDF Schedule here. Also make sure to check out the FAQs.

Things to do with kids this summer - 2019 AMC Summer Movie Camp - $4 Admission with Snacks Included - MusefulMom.com

Just like most people, I am sure that you are looking for things to do with kids this summer. Well look no more because AMC has announced the details of their summer movies program and it is called Summer Movie Camp! So every Wednesday, participating AMC Theaters will be showing the below family friendly movies for just $4! Besides the movie ticket, this includes a movie ticket and an AMC KidsPack — kid-sized popcorn, kid-sized fountain drink, and a pack of AMC Frooti Tootis! Yum!

I know that trying to keep kids occupied during the summer can be tough so it’s great to have such a fun and cheaper option to break up the week. I love that this also includes the snack pack since that is usually the most expensive part. This would be great for bring large groups of kids also! My daughter is always asking to do things with her friends.

Each week there will be a different movie to see so make sure to check your local listings for the dates and movies being shown. One thing that I know for sure is that the movies shown will come from the list below. I think that these are some really good movies!

  1. Trolls
  2. Wonder Park
  3. How to Train Your Dragon The Hidden World
  4. The House with a Clock in It’s Walls
  5. Small Foot
  6. Teen Titans Go to the Movies
  7. Rascal Rebel Rabbit
  8. Lego Movie 2
  9. Hotel Transylvania 3

The movies will be shown every Wednesday at either 10am or 11 am, depending on your theater. So you have to make sure to check out the Summer Movie Camp site for the dates, movies, and the full list of participating theaters.

Please note that I do not know which cinemas are participating. Therefore I would suggest contacting your local AMC Theater and see if they are participating and what their dates are. I found out that unfortunately not all theaters are participating.

Finally, if you are looking for more things to do with kids this summer, don’t forget about the Regal Cinemas 2019 Summer Movie Express Schedule for only $1 Admission! I will be taking advantage of this one since none of the AMC Theaters near me are participating.

Dr. Seuss Green Eggs and Ham Treats Recipe

Dr. Seuss Green Eggs and Ham Treats Recipe - MusefulMom.com

Tomorrow is Dr. Seuss’s birthday and we decided to make some Green Eggs and Ham to celebrate! Dr. Seuss has been a staple in our household and Green Eggs and Ham is definitely the family favorite. So this year we are celebrating by making Green Eggs and Ham treats that everyone would love!

These treats are extremely easy to make. I have made these before and many people have asked me for the recipe / how-to instructions. So here it is, a cute dessert for the kids and the adults. This is a quick and easy recipe so you can include your kids. Have fun baking!

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Waffle pretzels
  • White Chocolate Melting Discs or White Candy Melts
  • Green M&M’s
Dr. Seuss Green Eggs and Ham Treats Recipe Ingredients - MusefulMom

We found all of the ingredients at Walmart. For the Green M&M’s, we bought the Dark Chocolate Mint M&M’s. If you can’t find a bag of green M&M’s, you can always buy the regular M&M’s and pick out the green ones.

Here’s what to do for Green Eggs and Ham Treats:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  • Spread out waffle pretzels in rows on a parchment lined baking sheet.
  • Place one melting disk on top of each pretzel. (if your disks are small like mine were, put 2 disks, one on top of the other, on top of each pretzel.
  • Bake in oven for about 1-2 minutes until chocolate is soft. Make sure to watch this closely as the melts will brown if left in too long.
  • Remove from oven.
  • Quickly place an M&M into the center of each disk and press down lightly to make the melting disk spread out a bit.
  • Let cool for about one hour or you can place in refrigerator to cool faster.

I also made some Green Eggs without the Ham pretzels because not everyone likes pretzels.

Here’s what to do for Green Eggs without Ham Treats:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  • Spread out one melting disk in rows on a parchment lined baking sheet (if your disks are small like mine were, put 2 disks, one on top of the other).
